Active Release Techniques

Active Release Techniques (ART) is a hands-on technique which allows your doctor to diagnose and treat the underlying causes of cumulative trauma disorders. ART actually alters your internal tissue structure by breaking up cross-fiber adhesions and restoring normal function to soft-tissue areas.

ART treatments rely on precise protocols, specifically tailored to the patient’s needs. A combination of pressure, tension, and motion forces the muscles and tissue to begin working properly again, restoring range of movement and relieving pain and stress.

According to the book “Release Your Pain,” by Dr. Brian Abelson, DC. and Kamali Abelson, BSc.:

ART has an edge over the other procedures as its treatments are very specific and can be customized to each patient’s unique needs and problems. Many other soft-tissue techniques use a very limited set of protocols which are then applied generically to all related injuries.”

The goals of ART are:

There’s no magic cure for anything, but ART is a safe, non-invasive, and highly effective technique that has a record of producing excellent results.

The ML830 Cold Laser

ML830 Laser is a non-thermal laser capable of penetrating deep into tissue. Once delivered, the light energy promotes the process of healing. When low level laser light waves penetrate deeply into the skin, they optimize the immune response of our blood. This has anti-inflammatory and immunostimulate benefits. It is a scientific fact that light transmitted to the blood rewards the whole body by supplying vital oxygen and energy to every cell.

The MicroLight 830 has FDA approval for the treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the number one repetitive stress injury in America today and is a leading cause of worker lost time and disability. More than one million Americans acquire CTS symptoms each year, and over 200,000 surgical procedures are performed in the treatment of CTS.

Although CTS can begin suddenly, its onset is usually gradual. If not treated, CTS may lead to reduced hand function with possible permanent nerve and muscle damage. With early diagnosis and treatment, however, complete recovery usually occurs. Anything that causes swelling of the synovium that surrounds wrist tendons, or produces repeated pressure on the median nerve, can lead to CTS or make it worse if the condition already exists.
